Miguel Araújo wins best-paper award at ICDM 2017

The best paper award is to be given at he ICDM (International Conference on Data Mining) 2017 taking place in New Orleans, US, next November, 18-21st for the paper "TensorCast: Forecasting with Context using Coupled Tensors".

The paper is co-authored by Miguel Araújo (MAP-i/CMU), Pedro Ribeiro (CRACS/INESC TEC & FCUP) and Christos Faloutsos (CMU) and it provides a fast and effective algorithm, to forecast the evolution of a tensor (like who-publishes-where-and-when), given additional, side information (like who has been co-author with whom).

The paper is based on the PhD research of Miguel Araújo who has completed his PhD last May, in fact completed the Dual-PhD in Computer Science between MAP-i and Carnegie Mellon University.

ICDM is A* ranked conference with an acceptance rate of about 10%.

Our congratulations to the excellent work by Miguel and his co-authors.
