1>> TITLE
Association Mining in a Grid Environment

2>> DESCRIPTION
Over the last few years, data grid environments have increased their
influence in many technological arenas. Data mining was not an exception.
Till today, several attempts were made to put on practice these special
distributed data environments in the support of data mining processes and
applications. Results were much diversified, and the implementations carried
out began to appear very appellative to data miners. In this particular PhD
work we intend to study the application of a data grid in the support of
distributed association mining processes, giving particular attention to the
distribution and allocation of data sources, evaluation of the available
resources of the grid and consequent distribution of data sets and mining
algorithms, and, finally, probably the most important effort, to the
combination of the results provided by each node of the grid that executed a
specific part of the global association mining process. All the results
(intermediate and final) of this project will be validated, necessarily, in
a real world scenario involving marketing basket analysis applications.

3>> GOALS
To provide a computational platform especially oriented to the combination
of distributed association mining results in a data grid environment.
