Thematic Seminar


The Thematic Seminar consists of a number of one-week long seminars to occur during the semester as described below. This curricular unit is coordinated by Prof. Fernando Silva to whom any questions should be addressed.

Each student has to attend and complete three seminars. Please keep in mind that to be approved in one of the seminars you should be present in ALL scheduled sessions.

Detailed information on the available seminars will be updated on this page as soon as it is available. It is possible, however, to anticipate the following schedule:

  • Seminar 1: 20-23 April - Case Studies in Advanced Algorithms, led by Prof. Cristina Pinotti (Univ. of Perugia, Italy)
    • Topics covered (12 hours):
      • Greedy algorithms (Minimum Spanning Tree)
      • Dynamic Programming (clustering problem on data distribution on channel)
      • Basic Proof on NP-completeness in Multichannel Data Allocation problem and Multi-interface problem
    • Schedule (Room 0.05):
      20 April – 11-12:00 + 14-17:00
      22 April – 11-12:00 + 14-17:00
      23 April – 9:30-12:30 + 14:30-15:30
  • Seminar 2: 25-29 May - Domain Engineering, led by professor Dines Bjorner (Technical University of Denmark)
